{Made by Mama}

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you probably already know that my Mom is a talented designer. I'm lucky that her favorite clients happen to be my sisters and me. She has designed and made me countless things throughout my life - including almost every single one of my high school dance dresses and the most important dress of all, my wedding dress! I've never taken the time to showcase the things she's made me in one place before, but today while reminiscing on some photos I felt compelled to do just that. This is a tiny fraction of the things she's crafted for me. I look at these photos and feel so much pride for my talented Mama. She is so creative, inspiring and gracious. I miss her so much every day and getting to wear her creations certainly makes me feel closer to her when I'm so far from home!

Happy {Sparkly Holiday Party} Weekend!

Well, I made it back! I pushed through my jet lag yesterday so I could try to get back on schedule as this weekend is a big one. Tonight, we have our work holiday party. Not just any holiday party, mind you. Our company rented out the Heineken Music Hall and singer-songwriter Calvin Harris will be there performing! He was most recently featured in Rihanna's newest single, "We Found Love", which I am absolutely and positively obsessed with. Needless to say it will be a memorable night! The theme for the evening is "A Touch of Gold", so I will be rushing to find a last minute sparkly outfit to wear tonight. Wish me luck! And have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Recap

This weekend I…

…Watched the Ducks (my alma mater) win the Pac-12 championship game at Spirit of 77.

…Had a day of pampering on Saturday… Got my eyebrows waxed, got a mani/pedi and a spray tan. I feel like a new woman!

…Had a fun girls night out (in my new leather jacket - thanks, Mama!). A group of us went to a new restaurant in the Pearl, Oven and Shaker, and then made our rounds to some familiar local jaunts (Vault Martini Bar and Brix Tavern). It had been too long since I had a good ‘ol ladies night!

…Did some Christmas shopping with my mother-in-law. I can’t believe I’ll be turning around two weeks after I land in Amsterdam to come right back here for the holidays! I know it’ll be worth it, but I’m not looking forward to all the plane travel!

…Had a great Sunday night family dinner at my in-laws. But we missed husband mucho.

I am having such a great time at home, but I have to say that I am super excited to get back to Amsterdam so I can really start celebrating Christmas! All the tweets about Christmas tree decorating and holiday crafts are making me so jealous! Hope everyone had a fun and festive weekend!

I Love Autumn

The street I grew up on back in Oregon is absolutely breathtaking in the Fall. I got super lucky and with the late summer Portland had, I actually caught the leaves as they were bright yellow and orange at the beginning of my week stay, and half bare by the end of it. I decided it would be the perfect backdrop for some outfit photos. I bought these leather shorts at Topshop in London. The second I said "leather shorts" to friends and family I think they were really concerned for me, but I think after seeing them styled they are now leather short believers! What do you think? Are you a fan of leather shorts? What's your go-to Autumn outfit?

I was sick pretty much all week with a nasty cold on top of allergies. I'm finally starting to feel a little better, so I'm going to try to enjoy one of my last weekends in Portland hanging out with good friends and family. Three weeks until Amsterdam! Eek! Hope you have a lovely weekend, friends!

Newest Blog Crush

I wanted to share my newest blog obsession with all of you. Thanks to Sterling Style, I stumbled across Kendi Everyday on Saturday and pretty much spent my entire night perusing old entries and laughing my way through every post. Kendi writes a style blog and she wears the cutest outfits that are creative, but don’t try too hard. On top of her awesome style inspiration, she is gorgeous and absolutely hilarious. Her hubby takes the wonderful photos and the entire blog is just really refreshing. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Zara Online

Update: It appears you can't actually add anything to your cart... Any ideas why? Maybe I spoke too soon and didn't get the full scoop on this story. Although, I'm still loving the outfits below!


Yesterday, Zara launched their online store. It was a beautiful, long-awaited day! We don't have a Zara anywhere near us in Portland, so this was very exciting news. In honor of the launch, I picked out a few outfits I'd love to "add to my cart" :) Are you all Zara lovers?

A New Look

I've been thinking about getting bangs for a couple months, and now that the wedding is over I am finally ready to take the plunge.
