A New Look

I've been thinking about getting bangs for a couple months, and now that the wedding is over I am finally ready to take the plunge. My appointment is scheduled for Friday and it's all I can think about. Here are just a few of the looks that have inspired me to try this new look. What do you all think?

Selling: Starboard Dress

Update: The dress is sold. Thanks for your interest!

I'm selling this super cute, never-been-worn dress! I bought it online right before the wedding and it was too big. Things got so busy and I missed the return window, so I'm hoping one of you will benefit from my loss! I bought it for $53 + shipping and I'm selling it for $45. It's a size medium. I'm normally a 2/4 and it was a bit big on me so I would say this would be perfect for someone who's more of a 4/6 or 6/8! If you're interested, please email me at liz.denfeld {at} gmail.com! Thanks guys!

Date Night: Meriwether's

Hi There! How was your weekend? Ours was fun-filled, eventful and a bit exhausting! Friday night Corey and I headed to Meriwether's for a nice long dinner al fresco. We had always heard great things about their back patio, but had never actually been. It was so incredibly beautiful! It was like a little garden oasis in the middle of the city.

The food was mouth-watering amazing. We loved everything we ate, but we especially loved our appetizers that came in small portions so we could try a few different things. We had the risotto fritters (incredible!), what they called tomato ricotta toast, which was basically bruschetta and absolutely delectable, and the tuna empanadas, which were also amazing but didn't blow me away like the others. Our entrees were good, but didn't compare to the appetizers, and the dessert (chocolate-chip banana bread pudding) was supper yummy but could've used a bit more caramel sauce! Overall we were really happy with our dinner, especially the ambiance of the serene back patio on a nice summer night. In the winter, when the patio is closed, I would stick with the happy hour!

P.S. Sorry for the not-so-stellar photos. I forgot my camera so these were all taken on my iphone!

Happy Weekend!

Tonight Corey and I are having a dinner and a movie date (we really miss getting to spend every waking hour together :) and tomorrow we're throwing a little shindig for our good friends that are moving back home to the Midwest (and getting married in about a month!). We're so sad to see them go, but we'll be making the yummy cocktails you see below and going dancing, so it's sure to be a night of laughter and fun.

Hope you all have fun plans. It's one of the last weekends of summer... Sad!

Current Obsession: Chandeliers

Some of you may know that Corey and I moved into our current apartment back in April. We love our beautiful building and all the amazing amenities, but after four months we’ve come to the sad realization that we just don’t have enough space (too many amazing wedding gifts!!!). So, in three weeks we’ll be moving to a new place (I know, you must think we’re crazy) that is much bigger, but still located downtown. For those of you who know Portland, we’re currently in the Pearl District area and we’ll be moving to what some people call the Alphabet District or just Northwest. We’re super excited for more space and new scenery. As a result of the move, my mind is currently design-obsessed. Decorating a new space is just so much fun! One thing I know our new place will have: a chandelier. They are so beautiful and add the perfect amount of glam to a space.

Nan Lawson Custom Portraits

Nan Lawson’s custom portraits have been circulating the blogosphere for quite some time now. And I have to admit, I reallyyyy want to jump on the bandwagon and get one for our newly established family. Wouldn’t a custom portrait make a great wedding gift?

I Heart Tablescapes

A chic tablescape is one of those simple things in life that provides me inexplicable joy. I could look at pretty table settings for hours on end. They can be simple or grandiose, set for 2 or 20, it doesn't matter. I want to have a dinner party just so I can set my table! Here are some that I'm loving today...

Thank You!

While we were away on our honeymoon I reached 200 followers! I just wanted to let all of you know how much it means to me that you come back here and read about what inspires me and the simple things that make me happy. I truly hope you enjoy the content I post. I realize I've been a little slow on the blogging due to the recent wedding events, but I plan on being back in full swing very, very soon. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you!! Thanks for being here.

And just for fun, if you feel compelled to leave a comment, I'd LOVE to know what you like to see posted here on my blog. Is it weddings? Design? Fashion? Portland-specific posts? My photography? What would you like to see more of? Please do tell!!

Honeymoon Highlights

It's been a whirlwind, incredibly magical last couple of weeks. We got back from our honeymoon Thursday night and we are so thankful we had a nice three-day weekend to acclimate ourselves back to reality a bit. Tomorrow it's back to work, but for now I'd love to share some highlights from our romantical honeymoon in Kauai (seriously the most beautiful Hawaiian island!!).

Aloha!

Aloha means hello and goodbye in Hawaiian... It's a little strange and confusing at times. Like right now, I'm saying aloha {goodbye} because we are jetting away to Kauai tomorrow for our honeymoon! Anyhow, hope you all have a wonderful next week or so and if you're so inclined, follow me on Twitter {@lizbalaesh} 'cause I might be posting some Hawaii pictures here and there throughout the honeymoon!

P.S. This is one of my favorite photos from our rehearsal dinner, which we held on the rooftop of our building. It was perfection. Thanks for the pic bestie!

We're Married!!!

Saturday was the best day of my life. Seriously. Our family and friends worked their buns off to make our special day beyond words incredible. Corey and I are floating around on cloud 9. We can't wait to leave for our honeymoon Wednesday, but it's been so nice to have some time to tie up loose ends the last couple of days! Here's a tiny peek at the wedding. I can't wait to share more when we return. And I especially can't wait to share the professional photos Jill Thomas took. I can't even explain how incredible she is!!

I'll be back in 10 days! Ciao friends!

It's Finally Here!!!

The time has come... Family has arrived, friends from near and far are gathering and tomorrow the celebrations will begin. Saturday I will marry my best friend... The type of guy I always dreamed of but never thought truly existed. I am the luckiest girl in the world to experience the true and deep love I have with Corey. It's hard to explain exactly how I'm feeling in these last moments before we become man and wife. Everyone keeps telling me I seem very calm, and I am. Everything feels so natural and carefree. This feels so right.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement and ideas and inspirations throughout our wedding planning. It has meant the world to me! I cannot wait to share stories and photos with you...

I will probably pop back up quickly next week (we've got a couple days before we jet away to Kauai for our honeymoon), but after that the blog will go a bit dark for a while. Who am i fooling? This little blog kind of fell off the to-do list these last couple of weeks. But I can't wait to get back to my regular schedule when this is all over... But for now, I am going to fully enjoy and embrace every moment of this monumental occasion in my life :) I hope you all understand.

A little parting gift... A couple more photos from our e-session! Even more when I return.
