Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? I was so happy we actually saw some nice weather Saturday morning. I was able to break out my camera, which I haven’t done in forever it feels like! It’s so hard to keep up with my photography in the winter since by the time I get home it is pitch dark. Having said that, I haven’t had a chance to upload the photos, so here are a couple iPhone pics from our weekend to hold you over!

Cocktail Hour: Sidecar

Last night, after a particularly mind numbing day at the office, this delicious cocktail from Mother's Bistro really hit the spot.

Mom’s Sidecar
Vanilla-infused bourbon, Cointreau &
fresh-squeezed lemon juice,
served up with a sugar rim.

Little Big Burger

So, all went as planned Monday night: Little Big Burger, The King's Speech and celebrating six months of marriage. The only thing that didn't go as planned was my little red dress. It's so cute, but it was way too cold, even with cozy tights. So, that'll have to wait for another celebration.

Little Big Burger was quite fun! I don't eat beef (or pork), so I got a veggie burger and it was yummy. Corey got two cheeseburgers and he said they were definitely good, but not out of this world or anything. But the truffle fries.. Oh the truffle fries! They were so good. I could've eaten six bags! And they even make their own fry sauce, ketchup and mustard in Portland.   We also tried a real beer float with coconut porter. It was interesting and pretty much delicious.  All-in-all, I would say this is a cute little spot for an affordable and fun date night.

The King's Speech was so great - definitely a must-see. Colin Firth was ridiculously amazing!

Oh, and we ended the night with more wedding cake! Cookies and cream... Yumm!

Six Months of Wedded Bliss!

Six months ago today, Corey and I became husband and wife! I cannot believe how fast time flies. I honestly still get so giddy calling him my husband and look at wedding photos more often than is probably healthy, and feel so proud to be a Denfeld. I love our little family and couldn't be happier in life right now. I feel so ridiculously blessed and don't take any day for granted. Here's how we plan on celebrating tonight...

*Update! You all seem to love the red dress! You can purchase it here :)

Weekend Recap

This weekend…

We made two yummy breakfasts… Banana pancakes Saturday morning and Isabel-inspired eggs, black beans, potatoes and tortillas Sunday morning.

We snuggled in bed with our little Henry.

We watched Pretty Woman.

We enjoyed some Pinot Noir from David Hill Winery (where we got married!).

We ate our wedding cake (my MIL had to clean out her freezer and the cake was surprisingly delicious and moist)!

I went to Oba for a birthday dinner… The Ahi Tuna was to.die.for.

We took Henry to the vet. He officially has all his shots, hurrah! Oh, and we scheduled his “castration” (hey, their words not mine).. March 20th… Dun dun dun…

We ate homemade pizza and watched the Superbowl at my in-laws.

We had some lovely bonding time with my sissy.

We rearranged furniture and organized a giant pile of paper/mail (feels so good to get that stuff done!).

What did you do this weekend?

Fill in the Blank Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Thought I'd try something new this week and play along with Lauren, a fellow Portland blogger. Every Friday she posts some statements, and you fill in the blanks. It's lots of fun to read everyone's responses and I'm finally going to participate myself. You should play along too! So here it goes... This week's topic is magazines, a subject near and dear to my heart as I majored in magazine journalism in college.

If I could only read one magazine publication for the rest of eternity, I would choose Glamour Magazine. It has the perfect mix of lifestyle, beauty, fashion and gossip!

If I were to run my own magazine it would be a lifestyle magazine for young people living in Portland. There are so many amazing restaurants, shops, weekend trips, etc etc to write about, and I am so proud to be a Portlander!

I buy my magazines (at the grocery check stand or via subscription) Both! Mostly the check stand, but I also subscribe to Real Simple and Portland Monthly.

I prefer my magazines (in print or online) In print, for now. Someday soon I hope to enjoy them on an iPad :) I promised myself that would be my reward if I got the promotion, and now I'm just waiting for the new one to come out!

The number of magazines I buy each month is... it varies every month, but on average I would say 2-3.

My favorite magazine genre is (lifestyle, gossip, home, etc...) I love so many, but if I had to pick one I would say lifestyle.

The magazines I read regularly are Portland Monthly, Real Simple, Glamour, Martha Stewart Living, Vogue, W, Harpers Bazaar (my mom subscribes to a lot of fashion mags!)

Mt. Hood

Here are a couple photos from our adventure up to Mt. Hood last weekend! We really didn't want Henry to miss out on snowshoeing so we brought him along in my backpack!

Too Sweet Not to Post

How adorable are these flirty fruit stickers? They make me smile.
